Privacy Policy

Storyfied is a browser extension that turns a ticket you are viewing into an AI-ready summary. It runs in your browser, uses your own AI provider key, and does not have any backend server of its own. We do not collect, store, sell, or share your personal data.

1. Who this covers

This policy applies to the Storyfied Chrome extension ("the extension", "we", "our"). It explains what information the extension handles and how.

2. Information the extension handles

Ticket / page content. When you open a ticket on a board (such as GitHub Projects, Azure DevOps, or Jira) and click the extension icon, the extension reads the visible text of that ticket from the current page so it can be summarized. This happens only when you explicitly invoke the extension, and only on the tab you invoke it on.
Your AI provider API key. You supply your own Google Gemini API key. It is stored locally in your browser and used only to authenticate requests to the AI provider.
Your preferences. Settings such as the chosen model and any optional custom instructions are stored locally in your browser.

The extension does not collect names, email addresses, passwords, browsing history, analytics, or any data from pages you have not explicitly run it on.

3. How the information is used

The ticket text you choose to process is sent to Google's Gemini API to generate the structured summary that the extension shows you.
Your API key is sent only to Google's Gemini API to authenticate those requests.
The generated summary is shown in the extension's popup for you to review and edit, and is copied to your clipboard only when you click "Copy".

4. Where data is stored

Your API key and preferences are stored using your browser's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) on your own device. We do not operate any server, and we never receive or retain your API key, ticket content, or generated summaries. Ticket text is processed in transit only and is not persisted by the extension after the request completes.

5. Third-party services

The extension sends ticket text and your API key to Google's Gemini API (generativelanguage.googleapis.com) to perform the summarization. Google's handling of that data is governed by Google's own terms and privacy policy:

This is the only external service the extension contacts. We recommend reviewing Google's terms to understand how API request data is used.

6. Data sharing and sale

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with anyone. The only transmission of data is the request you initiate to Google's Gemini API, described above.

7. Permissions and why they are needed

activeTab - to read the ticket text from the current tab, only when you click the extension icon.
scripting - to run a one-time function on the active tab that reads the visible ticket text.
storage - to save your API key and preferences locally.
Host access to generativelanguage.googleapis.com - to call the Gemini API.

8. Your choices and control

Nothing is processed until you click the extension on a ticket.
You can review and edit every field before copying anything.
You can remove your stored API key and preferences at any time from the extension's options, or by removing the extension. Uninstalling deletes all locally stored data.

9. Children

Storyfied is a developer productivity tool and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
